The 20th anniversary of the AFB: 20th July

The 20th anniversary of the AFB on 20th July at la Nanté was a great success with around 70 participants. Despite a change in the weather at the weekend, a team managed to erect a cover for the tables and benches so that the BBQ could be eaten in the dry.

The day started with viewing the photo exhibition of the AFB over the past 20 years together with coffee and brioche. A group then did the treasure hunt walk and another group undertook the car rally and treasure hunt. Winners of both were awarded prizes at the end of the event.

Following an aperitif Willam thanked Gerard Commailleau, ex mayor of Moutiers-les-Mauxfaits for attending to celebrate the anniversary. Mr Commailleau together with Solange Gray had the idea to commence a joint anglo-french group in 2005.

William then especially thanked Patrice Bodin and Bernadette Tourancheau for their long and very active contribution to the Association. Patrice for 20 years as vice president and instigator of a number of cultural activities and Bernadette as treasurer for 11 years and together with Hilaire, organised rambles and picnics for many years.

Participants were treated to a range of entrees and salads together with a BBQ of sardines, chicken and sausages. Delicious desserts and coffee followed.

Participants took part in a quiz on the 20 years of the AFB, many of the answers to which could be found by visiting the exhibition, and the winner Nadine Diez received a hat decorated in the colours of the two countries.

Thanks to William and Solange who organised many last-minute changes to ensure an enjoyable and memorable 20th anniversary.
